Bachelorette Party

This past Thursday we had my bachelorette party! A bunch of my girl friends met at Mellow Mushroom for dinner and we continued the celebration at Bogart's. A sash, a crown, and $300 from two silly guys later, we had a blast!! Alex had his bachelor party last weekend. They played Alex's favorite game (Frisbee golf), ate wings at Alex's favorite Raleigh restaurant (Sammy's), went to Alex's favorite bar (The Flying Saucer), and at 2:30 am, ate at Alex's favorite late night fast food place (Cookout)!! We are super lucky to have such fun friends!

Stock the Bar Party

Emily and Frank threw us a "Stock the Bar" party last Saturday. They made tons of yummy bar food, supplied both a pony and a kitten keg, and had lots of fun games for people to play. We played Pin Alex and Laura on Jamaica, Who Knows Them Best, corn hole, and bocce ball. Everybody had a great time. With our newly stocked bar, we will be able to make lots of new friends in Philly :)

Our lovely hosts :)

So apparently there are some of us who do not know when the wedding is, others who think our cat's name is Scratch, and a few who think my favorite beer is the foam...

Indoor Climbing

Earlier tonight, Alex and Lisa went indoor rock climbing with our friend John. I wasn't able to climb because I just got my nails done for the wedding, but I think I was a pretty good watcher :) Lisa did a great job for her first time... she made it all of the way to the top almost every try!! Alex became certified in belaying with good instructions from John. I think everybody had a great time!

The adventurous climbers!

Something Blue

Alex's Aunt Janet made me a beautiful embroidered ribbon for the inside of my wedding dress. It has Alex and my first initials and the date of our wedding. Besides being my something blue, this gift has made my wedding dress more special and meaningful. I love it!!

Trying to Help

Alex, a super hard-working teacher, always has a lot of work to do. I thought I would be nice tonight and do some of his grading. Lesson learned: a glass of wine and student papers do not mix. I spilled and the grades, written in makers that were definitely not waterproof, went away :( One hundreds for everyone!!

Flopsy

Last night, our first pet fish Flopsy died.  We got Flopsy four years ago at Christina's wedding.  They were going to get rid of the fish centerpieces on the kid's tables so we quick picked a fish and took him back to our beach house.  We had flown to New Jersey so we needed to take the fish back on a plane with us if we were going to get him home.  Alex decided to put Flops into a water bottle to take on the plane.  While trying to transfer Flops into the water bottle, he fell into the sink and flopped around a little bit, hence Flopsy!  Alex managed to get Flops past security and onto the plane and home we flew with our little pet.  Flopsy lived with Alex at NC State in three different apartments, with Alex's parents in two different houses, with my parents, and finally with me and Alex in our first apartment together.  Flopsy and Moo were good pals too.  Moo only drinks from Flopsy's bowl so we have no idea how she is going to deal with her own water bowl now!  Despite their friendship, Moo and Flops had their hard times too including two assassination attempts in which Flops ended up on the floor!!  Flopsy was a great fish and lived much longer than expected.  We will miss him :)
