The Great Cross Country Adventure

Alex's dad recently took a new job in Portland, Oregon.  Instead of flying out there, buying all new things, and being car-less, Dave and Alex decided to drive across the country with a car full of loot!!!  They left on a Wednesday and got to Portland on Sunday 3,000 miles later!  It was a long drive, but they were able to see a few friends, stand in both the Mississippi River and the Great Salt Lake, visit Antelope Island, and hit up Wendy's drive-throughs across the country :)

Let the journey begin!

The Gateway Arch of St. Louis

Giving the arch a good kick

The tiny elevator they rode to the top of the arch!

In the elevator!

Looking out over St. Louis!

Being the arch!  They were the only ones at the top besides the security people.

Standing in the Mississippi River as it was flooding over onto the street.  In the background, just under the bridge, you can see the top of a Louis and Clark statue submerged underwater!

Storm clouds over Kansas

Tornado weather!!

Alex and Dave stopped in Denver, CO to see the Prommersbergers.  They went to the park and rode a four person bike.

Janet, Ellen, and Bruce!

The buffalo was super close to the car!

The buffalo were attacking the ranch!  It made for a good photo op!

Can't resist jumping off things

Standing in the Great Salt Lake!

Alex and Dave took a three hour detour to go see Stewart, official geologist in the park!  He is spending the summer at Craters of the Moon mapping out the park.

Erica's Bachelorette Weekend

This past weekend I drove down to Murrell's Inlet in South Carolina for Erica's last fling before the ring!  We stayed at a beautiful beach house owned by a family friend of one of Erica's bridesmaids.  It was nice to get to know two of Erica's other friends and spend some quality time with the bride :)  We all had a blast and I am looking forward to the wedding in 10 days!

Out on the lake with Elizabeth, Erica, Lollie, and our wonderful chauffeur Joey (Lollie's little brother)!

Me and Lollie on the alligator infested waters!

All of us before we left the lake!

Erica's presents!  Mommy wrapped the ones from me: the pretty blue ones and the tiger striped one.

Mom and I made several desserts for the party: a heart-shaped chocolate cake, heart-shaped jello jigglers, and lemon bars.  We also made two lime pies but they didn't turn out as well!  Grandma made her yummy banana bread too!

The pretty cake!

My silly present for Miss Jane

Summer Dayz

We went boating today with Lisa and Nick!  The lake was smooth as glass and the weather was perfect.  We were one of the only boats on the lake so we were able to do a lot of wake boarding, tubing, and swimming :)  We love summer :)

So high!

Barely hanging on!

Bat-tastic

While doing a little birthday shopping, Alex, Michele, and I found Alex's dream outfit: a batman rain coat complete with a cape and batman rain boots.  The only catch: it was an outfit for a two year old :(  Luckily, we happen to know a sweet little boy who would look bat-tastic in a batman rain outfit!!

Charlie!!!

Taking his batman role very seriously :)

Phoenix Concert

Alex, Kevin, Amy, Finch, Katie, and I went to a Phoenix concert last Friday in Cary.  We had amazing seats in the front row!  It was my first Phoenix concert and I thought they were really good :)  Amy and Kevin liked the concert so much that they bought tickets and drove to the Phoenix concert in Charlotte the next night!

The opening band was The Love Language.  They were pretty good too!
