Remembrance Ceremony

Today we had a Remembrance Ceremony downtown for the families who donated their loved one's bodies to our gross anatomy labs.  Drexel Med, Temple Med, Jefferson Med, UPenn Med, PCOM, physical therapy and podiatry schools were there.  While most schools are done with their bodies by April, our 9 month dissection is still going!  Some students read poems, others read eulogies, and some performed music.  I just watched!  It was a very nice ceremony for students and families alike!

Ben Folds

Alex, Jason, and I went to see a free Ben Folds concert yesterday.  It was on the LeHigh University campus about an hour and a half away in the mountains.  Lots of students at Drexel are from LeHigh so it was nice to finally see their school!  Jason gave us a tour around the campus and it was beautiful!  We had dinner at an awesome Brewery downtown.

BBQ

Drexel had a small BBQ this past Friday to celebrate the nice weather and another round of exams completed!  We had hot dogs, hamburgers, salad, cookies, and several brain jello molds.  I meant to take more pictures, but I was too busy eating the postcentral gyrus :)

Nancy's Crew ALS Walk 2010

This weekend we packed up the car and headed back to North Carolina for the 2010 ALS Walk.  We walked as part of "Nancy's Crew" in honor of our friend's mom, who was diagnosed with ALS several years ago.  Our team raised $19,818!  It was a beautiful day to walk a couple miles to support ALS!

Two Easter Bunnies Later

Alex and I woke up Easter morning at the Scheer's house.  We had a huge wonderful breakfast with pancakes, bacon, sausage, blackberries, corn beef hash, hash browns, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, and tea!  The Easter Bunny definitely didn't let us down as he brought us baskets filled with tons of yummy candy.  I got some bacon chocolate which I can't wait to share with my bacon-chocolate- doubting lab group!

Easter continued at my parents house where the Easter Bunny brought us more goodies!!  We got the Sherlock Holmes movie, our favorite Starbucks coffee, and some awesome candy!  Alex and I are definitely stocked with candy :)  After visiting for a little bit, we had to get in the car and drive back to Philly.  Traffic was horrible, but it was nice to spend some uninterrupted time together in the car.

Looking at our treasures

Overall this spring break was a bunch of fun.  We were able to spend time with our families and see a lot of friends.  A special thank you to Grandma for making sure my teeth are healthy with two trips to the dentist!  Alex also got a special treat to the dentist from his parents.  We are back in Philly with a few new outfits for the both of us, brand new running shoes for me (after having my old ones for 8 years!), and a short new haircut.

Happy Bunny Day

We had the annual Easter party at Teresa and Jeff's house.  It was so much fun to see all of the little cousins and to meet the newest addition to our family, little Lily!!  After the Easter party, Alex and I went back to Chapel Hill to see Jen, Mark, and Charlie!!  We played cars with the little one and almost got a picture, but had a camera malfunction.  Charlie is getting so big!

Easter egg hunt!!  All of my pictures of the cousins hunting eggs is of them running away from me!!  I wasn't going to steal the candy I promise!!  Okay, maybe just a few pieces...

Hoppy Easter!

Alex's family had my family, Amy, Kevin, and Nick over for dinner last Friday night.  There is nothing better than a plate of my favorite cheese, a bowl of blackberries, and beer-can chicken on a warm spring night!

Easter eggs!! I made a Drexel egg and Alex made a French flag egg :)

Later that night we got to see Loren, Toby, Heather, and Cory!

The Library

I just couldn't stay away from the library, even on my spring break...  Alex and I met Cari, Amy, Kevin, and Finch at one of our old Chapel Hill bars, the Library!  It was fun hanging out with dearly missed friends and who doesn't love free beer before 11?!

Miss future physical therapist!

Dinner with the Little Allen's

I was able to spend some time with the future newly weds during my spring break.  They made a very good dinner and shared some wedding plans :)  Alex couldn't come because he was visiting with Briton in Charlotte.  It was nice to see my old roomie!!

Engaged!

My new awfully short haircut!!

Okay so we were a little bored on our drive down to North Carolina...

The Not In Tournament Tournament

Alex, Emily, and I went to Chapel Hill to hang out with Kamy, Finch, and Nick for UNC's NIT game.  It was exciting to be in Chapel Hill watching my baby blues play basketball again, even it if wasn't the NCAA tournament :(  We were able to see UNC beat Rhode Island in a very exciting game.  Too bad the heels didn't have a similar success against Dayton.

Go Heels!  They really could have used #50 this year :(

The Scheer's Come to Town

During the first weekend of my spring break, the Scheer's came to Philly to visit!  Emily had just flown in from Rochester so she was able to come too!  It was nice to have a study-free weekend to actually hang out with people :)  Alex and his family went to the Philadelphia Mint on Friday while I was taking my neurology exam.  They came back to the apartment for Alex to take a shower, but I was passed out from my all-nighter and didn't hear them knocking!!  After I finally woke up and gained some brain function again, we met up and went to a great dinner at a place Kia suggested.  On Saturday, we all went to New York City on Megabus.  We were able to get the awesome front row second level seats again!!  In NYC, we went to the Museum of Modern Art, ate at a yummy cafe, and shopped in SOHO.  It was great fun!  Sunday we all headed back to NC, but not before a Philly cheese steak lunch from our favorite place :)
