The City of Lights

The Scheers and their family friends, the Prommersbergers, are currently in Paris for the French Open Tennis Tournament.  We were invited to go along, so Alex decided to take a few days off from work for a quick trip to the city of lights!

Happy Memorial Day 2012

Happy Memorial Day!  This time last year I was studying for step one of the boards.  This year, I'm studying for step two.  I'm starting not to like this holiday.  Bah humbug.

Making a cake is so much more fun than studying.

Especially when you get to put wavy candles on top :)

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital

I am spending the last four weeks of my medicine rotation at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, just outside of Philadelphia.  Good news: I am with Danielle.  Bad news: I hate every other aspect of the rotation.  Only three more weeks!

The front of the hospital.  I think it's haunted.

The walkway I am always running through because I am always late :)

Spring in Philadelphia

This weekend in Philadelphia was the perfect example of what spring weather should be like.  The sun was shining, there was a nice breeze, not too hot or cold, and there was not a cloud in the sky.  To top it all off, Alex and I had Saturday off at the same time!  I can't remember the last time we had the same day off!  We decided to spend the day downtown at the Rittenhouse Spring Festival.

In front of each restaurant on Walnut St, there was a booth where you could buy a food item from their menu.  We tried these amazing lobster rolls first!

Then we tried pulled pork barbeque sandwiches with a tasty mojito to drink.

The park was super crowded, but we were tired so we sat and dog watched for a while.

We had such a nice day and didn't just want to go sit at home, so we invited ourselves over to grill at Hilary and Shawn's house.  We brought some fish for dinner and had a great time.

Happy spring!

Final Days of Harrisburg

This is our last week in Harrisburg!  It has been sad being away from Alex and Moo of course, but exploring this city and meeting new people has been great.  And now I can officially say I have shared a bathroom with eight people and survived!  I am looking forward to only having to fight one person for the shower :)

A couple weeks ago, the other students and I attended Medical Education Day at the local Hilton Hotel.  During Med Ed Day, the residents from Harrisburg Hospital present the research they have completed over the past year.  It was really neat and we got to eat a fancy lunch after all the lectures were finished.

We had our ambulatory medicine oral exams today and Alex came out to meet me after I finished.

We walked over the bridge to City Island and were going to take a little paddle boat tour, but it was closed :(  That is all of Harrisburg in the background!

Alex and I went out to dinner with a couple of the other students to celebrate getting through our oral exams!

And then we continued to celebrate with ice cream :)

We got a banana split!

Harrisburg Art

In Philadelphia, there are murals painted all throughout the city on the sides of buildings, bridges, and highways.  In Harrisburg, they paint their artwork on fire hydrants.  Strange, but unique :)

This little piece of art is outside our house.

This is my favorite fire hydrant in Harrisburg.  It is near the hospital parking lot so I get to see it everyday!

I didn't have my camera with me for the majority of cute ones I have seen, but you get the idea.

Alex's Mini Adventure

Alex has done a lot of traveling in the past two days!  He drove out to Pittsburgh yesterday to spend some time with Emily and Frank and then made a little stop in Harrisburg on his way home today :)

I don't know why Frank wears these ugly shirts.

Emily and Frank sent a present for me!!  I got a pretty Vera Bradley bag filled with candy and goodies!  I was extra excited about these blue and green binder clips... I have a lot of papers to organize :)

Alex and I went out to a pub for dinner then took a walk over the Susquehanna River on this bridge.
