The Schneiders Meet Harper

Emily, Frank, Catherine and Hendrik flew all the way from California to meet Harper!  They could only stay for a few days, but we are so very happy that the cousins could finally meet!  The Schneiders traveled across the country with two small babies, braved a layover in Chicago, fought exhaustion with the time difference, and were still super sweet and cheery to meet the new baby.  We are so thankful the four of us could get together again, this time with all our little ones :)  Hanging out with the Schneiders made us realize how easy we have it with just one baby!  Hopefully we can make it out to California to see them again soon!

Twenty-Eight Candles

It was my twenty-eighth birthday yesterday.  I spent the day doing my new favorite thing - cuddling with the baby girl.  I got my nails done in the afternoon with Mom and Kate.  It was little girl's first time to the nail salon!  Alex brought me flowers and made an amazing cheese souffle for dinner.  Mom baked the most yummy orange cake I have ever had.  It was a perfect birthday!

Teresa and Jeff drove all the way from Durham Saturday afternoon to meet Harper.  Harper loved meeting her aunt and uncle!  Can't wait to see them again soon.

Duke Gardens Newborn Session

When Harper was just over a week old, we went to Duke Gardens for a newborn session.  Lisa's friend from elementary school, Burleigh, is now a professional photographer so we decided to have her photograph our little newbie.  It was close to 100 degrees outside that day and we felt like sweaty messes, but the pictures turned out well!  Alex and I had our engagement session at Duke Gardens so it was special to return for our little girl's photo shoot.  These are a few of our favorite pictures.  We are very happy with B Bodart Photography and can't wait for our next session!

Afternoon at the Pool

We took Harper to Katherine and Tessie's house today for a swim.  It was a hot day outside so it was perfect for an afternoon at the pool!  Harper was able to meet cousin Kaylyn too!

Uptown Girl

We were going a little stir crazy in the house and had some errands to do in uptown so we decided to go as a family.  This was Harper's second time doing errands uptown.  She slept the whole time in her pretty stroller :)

First, we stopped at the post office to mail a letter to Germany and pick up some stamps.

Then we walked across town to the Starbucks where Alex used to work.  We stopped to take this picture at the fountain that was in a scene from Homeland.

 Starbucks baby!

Our little Charlottean!  We strolled Harper through The Green park and posed by the awesome Charlotte statue.

Next, we walked over to the library so Alex could return a few books and pick up some new ones.  Hopefully Harper and Alex will be part of a story time group at this library.

Our last stop was 7th Street Market for some cheese!  Mommy is super happy to eat unpasteurized cheese now that the baby is out :)

Twenty-Nine Years of Alex

Alex turned twenty-nine yesterday!  In honor of his birthday, we had a few friends over for dinner. Here's to Alex's first birthday as a daddy and what will surely be the most exciting year of his life so far!

 Happy Birthday Alex!

Harper Goes to the Beach

We spent the past few days with my family at Sunset Beach.  We couldn't take Harper down to the ocean since it was super hot and her skin is so pale, but we enjoyed the marsh views from our house.  We spent a lot of time rocking on the porch and taking naps.  Harper had her first walk in her stroller and her first trip to get ice cream!  It was a nice family vacation.
