Festival in the Park 2016

We went to Festival in the Park this past weekend with the Moynihans.  It was fun to walk around and let the kids play together.

Harper's Beach Photo Session

Harper is really the most perfect baby who is almost always well behaved and sweet.  Every time we try to have her professionally photographed, however, she cries and whines and prefers to be held.  A few weekends ago, we went to Wrightsville beach with Burleigh for Harper's twelve months photo session.  Just like the first two sessions, she did not want to cooperate.  I was nervous that we wouldn't get any good pictures as we could only really work for fifteen minutes in the heat with a grumpy baby.  Somehow though, Burleigh was able to capture my sweet little girl's personality and the pictures were amazing!  Here are some of my favorites.

Swim Swim

We snuck over to Katherine and Tessie's house on Sunday for a quick swim.  We were able to meet their new dog, Smith.  Harper was a fan of feeding pretzels to Smith and following him around the pool.

Hot Springs Camping

We had planned to spend a few days at Kiawah Island enjoying one last beach trip of the summer, but as per my usual bad beach luck, Hurricane Hermine had other plans.  We decided to go camping in the mountains instead.  We camped at Hot Springs along the French Broad River.  This was Harper's first camping trip!  Camping with a baby is definitely a dirty, dirty job, but we had a fun time.  Harper liked sitting in her new baby camp chair, picking up every single one of the acorns on our site, and tripping on each and every tree root.  The weather was perfect with a high of seventy-seven degrees.  It actually felt like fall!  We slept like babies with our awesome river background noise.  It wasn't the beach, but it was a nice way to end my week off.

We were super excited about Harper's new little chair.

She had to try all the chairs first in order to decide that hers was, in fact, the best.

We stopped in town for a bbq lunch and ice cream snack.

We had to work hard to keep little Miss away from the fire pit.  She learned a new word: hot.

Luckily, she never touched it when there was an actual fire.

All ready to camp!

We had a great view.

We got a new tent!  It is big enough for our crazy double stuffed queen mattress and for Harper's bed!

We told scary campfire stories and chewed on bug spray caps.

Good morning!

We had pumpkin doughnuts for breakfast to celebrate fall.
