Trick-or-Treatie

We took the little llama trick-or-treating in our neighborhood tonight.  We stopped by our neighbors house first for a little Halloween party.  Harper enjoyed the bouncy house and hanging out with the big kids.  Michele and Dave took Harper around the neighborhood with us.  Girlie was very cute with her "Trick-or-Treatie" and "Happy Halloween" greetings.

All ready to go!

We stopped by Kinson and Adrienne's house first (after Harper said trick-or-treatie to our candy bowl and helped herself to a few pieces).

Harper made herself at home at Pamela and German's house.

We were a little afraid to go up to the door at this house.

Very scary

These wonderful neighbors gave out parent bags too.  They took bags of Doritos and topped them off with hot chili, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes.  It was delicious!

Waiting on trick-or-treaters!

Our little candy girl loved handing out candy.

Happy Halloween!

Trick-or-Treat in Old Salem

Before Harper was even born, I had read about the Old Salem Trick-or-Treating event that takes place every October in Winston Salem.  Old Salem is a living history museum that showcases the culture of the Moravian settlements in North Carolina during the 18th and 19th centuries.  Both Alex and I have gone there on school field trips when we were younger.  The town has a community trick-or-treating event where volunteers hand out candy at each of the historic houses.  Hundreds of carved pumpkins line the fences around the town.  We had a great time celebrating Halloween in the historic, somewhat spooky town!

Old Salem was built in 1766.  There is a Salem at Night tour full of scary ghost stories that we want to do next year.

As Harper says, "trick-or-treatie"!

We are the bad parents who did not remember to pick up a Halloween bag for Harper.  We used her beach bucket instead.

Our little llama did not like this scary man.

We got there a little after the event started.  Not long into it, the lines became very long!  We only went to a few houses so that we could scoot around easily.

Happy Hallo-Birthday Emily

We went to Atlanta this weekend for a quick trip to celebrate Emily's birthday.  Adelinda and Dieter were there from Germany and the Scheers were in town from California.  It was a quick trip, but we had a great time.  We went to the Georgia Aquarium which was all decorated for Halloween and had trick-or-treating stations for the kids.  The entire family carved pumpkins, including Adeline and Dieter.  It was their first time!

Harper loves fish almost as much as she loves pumpkins.

Harper showed all of the fish her little shark toy.

This beluga whale is pregnant and her due date was Saturday.  She did flip after flip for Harper.  It was so sweet!

Harper loved the water tunnels where she could walk underneath the fish and penguins.

We enjoyed otter feeding time.
