Lisa's Bridal Shower

We all went back to Cary this weekend for Lisa's bridal shower.  It was fun having her shower at the same venue (Grandma's clubhouse) that we had mine nine years ago!  Andrew flew in from Colorado for the weekend and it was the first time we had seen him since before he was deployed.  Alex and I were able to meet Andrew's mom for the first time too.  We are very excited for all of the wedding festivities to begin!

Harper explored the clubhouse with Grandma before the shower.  It was a beautiful day!  We saw turtles and geese in the pond.

If you know Lisa, then you know she loves candy.  The cousins made the cutest candy bar that Harper found immediately.  Harper spent more time at this table than anywhere else for the duration of the shower.

The tables were beautiful!

Everyone did such a nice job with the decorations.

We had a blessing tree to give the lovebirds some marriage advice.

Luckily, Lisa and Andrew are starting their marriage after receiving the entire Crate and Barrel store!

Harper was the best helper.  She helped Lisa open the gifts, picked up all the wrapping paper and brought Lisa new presents to open.

Harper got very tired after opening so many gifts.

Twenty-Eight Weeks: Eggplant Baby

We have officially made it to the third trimester!  NB can open his eyes now, although his vision is very blurry.  He should be gaining about a half a pound a week from now until birth, which does not sound like very much fun to me.  Harper has been very funny about the "baby in her tummy."  She will suddenly say, "Ow! The baby kicked me!" and hold her abdomen.  NB loves to kick his sister while we read bedtime stories.  We have travel plans the next four weekends in a row, so hopefully both littles behave.

Twenty-Seven Weeks: Lettuce Baby

Only one week left in the second trimester (although I'm perfectly happy to be pregnant - the hard part comes after delivery!)  Alex's parents were watching Emily and Frank's kids this weekend so we decided to add Harper to the mix and have a couple days to ourselves!  Instead of a quiet, relaxing weekend, we went to work on the nursery.  We painted the walls blue and installed a few items.  It was fun getting to have grown up conversations that didn't involve how many poops or milks someone in the family has had that day.  We enjoyed two dinners out and slept in!  We accomplished a TON, but missed our Harper dearly.

Let the painting begin!

We knocked the painting out in an hour and a half.  It was fun!

I had more tasks for Alex to do on Saturday.  We put up the curtains, hung the shelves, and anchored the bookshelf to the wall.  I washed all NB's sheets, changing pad covers, and mattress pads and put them away in the dresser.

The bookshelf is now safely secured against the wall in case a kiddo decides to climb it.

We installed a door stop so the door doesn't hit the bookshelf.

I love, love, love the shelves!  We ordered some picture frames to go on them as well.

I had ordered this driftwood mirror almost a month ago and unfortunately, the first two mirrors were found to be shattered on delivery.  Third time is the charm though and the mirror that arrived this week was perfect.  I hung it on my lunch break today!

Twenty-Six Weeks: Kale Baby

Kale seems like a silly thing to compare a twenty-six week fetus to, but here we are!  Fetuses at this gestational age are about fourteen inches long and weigh around two pounds.  Their eyelashes have developed and their eyes are in the process of forming.  NB continues to be a constant wiggler.  He has started having hiccups and still likes to stay up all night.  I can't figure out when this kid likes to sleep.
