Bowling

Last Friday, we went bowling with Den, Olivia, and their high school friends. Apparently bowling is much more exciting in the North! Alex and I weren't sure if we were walking into a bowling alley or a club! This bowling alley was complete with it's own bar and restaurant too! It was decided that Alex had the best bowling form, despite his ball's affection for the gutter. We had such a great time that we are thinking about making bowling a weekly Tuesday night event with the cousins :)

Den and Olivia! The flash was really bright, hence the squinting :)

Philly Play Day

Today, instead of studying the brachial plexus like most other Drexel students, we decided to hang out downtown. First stop: Jim's for some famous philly cheese steaks. They were pretty good! Kia and Emily were brave enough to try their steaks with whiz! After our snack we walked around South Street, took a stroll down the oldest street continuously lived on (Elfreth's Alley), visited Betsy Ross' House, Benjamin Franklin's grave, and the liberty bell of course. It was a good study break :)

After throwing pennies on the grave for good luck of course!

Potato Soup

So an extra perk of getting married (besides getting to spend the rest of your life with your best friend of course), is all of the fun gifts people give you!! Alex and I received lots of super useful kitchen items for the wedding and we loooove to use all of them :) Last night we decided to make potato soup. We put all of the ingredients into our cute little bowl set! It turns out cooking + your best pal + tons of neat cooking tools = a really great time every meal!

Pretty ingredients

I Scream, You Scream Because the Ice Cream Didn't Work!

To celebrate the completion of a total of 7 exams between the two of us this week, Alex and I had a little ice cream making party! We planned to make four different kinds of ice cream in our new ice cream maker from Ellen and Justin. We picked coffee, strawberry, salted caramel, and pumpkin flavors. After all of the ice cream preparing, the maker wouldn't turn the mixture into ice cream!! We tried two different kinds and neither of them would go any farther than cold mush. We tried putting the mixtures into the freezer for later use as slushies, but the mixtures wouldn't freeze!! Finally, we realized that the freezer was not cold enough to freeze the gel in the ice cream maker bucket. We turned down the temperature and let the bucket freeze over night. This morning, we put in our pumpkin mixture and sure enough, it worked!! We are very happy that we figured out our ice cream making glitch and can't wait to make that salted caramel ice cream some time soon!
