After spending the weekend talking about dinosaurs and fossils, Harper and I decided to make dinosaur cookies!

Fossil Fair
We went to the Fossil Fair at the Schiele Museum this weekend. Since it was the seventh or eight straight rainy day in a row, we needed to get out of the house! At the fair, we learned about fossils from North Carolina (including one very scary giant ground sloth), sifted through material from the coast to find a shark tooth, and made our own fossil imprints in salt dough. The event was very crowded, but we had a nice time.
Hello spinosaurus!
Making fossil imprints!
Harper found a shark tooth!
One very large Burmese python!
Harper loves dinosaur toys and books, but real life, waking, talking dinosaurs are scary!
Ethan: 7 Months
My little man is seven months old!! He is a little guy on the move. Ethan has been army crawling around the house trying to keep up with Harper. He has been pulling himself up as well. We have continued to make all of his food at home and so far, sweet potatoes and banana have been his favorites. He is now sleeping in his own room and usually only wakes up once a night. It has been great actually getting some sleep! Two of his bottom teeth are in and he loves to chomp chomp all his toys. He is the sweetest snuggler, a little Mommy's boy, and Daddy's twin.

Family Day at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
We spent a few hours on Saturday at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Uptown. It was family day and there were all sorts of crafts for the kids to do and a bingo art game. We learned about concentric circles and discovered beautiful pieces of art. It was a nice experience for Harper to begin learning about art and museum appreciation.
The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
Excited to make his own concentric circle art!
Our masterpieces!
Little man was a bit under the weather, but that didn't stop him from enjoying modern art.
We enjoyed the sun on the sculpture terrace.
Taking it in!
Harper made her own Valentine's Day art too.
After the museum, we went out for coffee and lunch in uptown.

Good Weather
Not that North Carolina experienced anything close to the polar vortex that the midwest and north eastern states experienced, but it has been very chilly in Charlotte this past week all the same. We were all very excited to experience sunny skies and sixty degree temperatures this weekend. Harper, Ethan and I met Poppy, Gigi and Great Grandma at the zoo on Saturday. The zoo is halfway between Cary and Charlotte. We had such a wonderful time exploring the zoo together. We all made it across the entire zoo! Harper was very surprised to see her grandparents when we got there as we had kept it secret! Alex spent Saturday snowboarding at Sugar Mountain. Despite his bindings breaking and loosing the sole of a boot, he was able to get a few runs in for the first time in five years! We packed a picnic lunch on Sunday and headed out to Little Sugar Creek Trail for a nice stroll. We thoroughly enjoyed the weather this weekend!
Sea Lions
Polar Harper
The polar bear was very sleepy.
We spent a little time playing in the playground. Ethan enjoyed the rubber flooring and Harper loved the slide!
Riding an arctic fox, of course!
I love this desert exhibit!
Gigi and Harper posed with a bison.
Sleepy gorilla
We missed feeding the giraffes this time. At least we got to watch them all roam towards their food tower.
I love the otters!
It is hard to see, but we paid a little visit to this bobcat. When we were here with Harper when she was fifteen months old, this bobcat was very interested in pouncing on her!
Ethan wanted Poppy's glasses for the sun!
Zebra watching!
We always love the lions!
Harper rode on Great Grandma's walker for a bit. S.P.O.I.L.E.D.
Alex enjoyed the NC mountains!
Happy picnicking on Little Sugar Creek Greenway!
