We took our first vacation as a family of four to the beach for a few days last week. We went to Kiawah Island in South Carolina. It was beautiful!! Despite feeling like we were walking into an oven, we spent the week playing in the sand, riding our bikes, and walking around our gorgeous vacation spot. Things are definitely tricky vacationing with littles, but we had a wonderful time.
We rented a condo with three bedrooms for our stay so we didn't break any of our hard formed sleeping habits. The kids did great in their own rooms!
We spent a lot of time on the porch enjoying the breeze and the views and hoping to see an alligator. We did not see a single alligator our entire stay!
The walk to the beach was breathtakingly beautiful.
The beach was never crowded. We only stayed a couple hours each day, but the kids had a blast. This was Ethan's first trip to the beach.
We spent a lot of time exploring Freshfields Village. It was such a cute place to eat!
We had ice cream for dinner our first night because it was vacation!
We walked by this falcon nest every day.
Ethan enjoyed climbing up and down from all our beach chairs.
It was very hard to get Harper to leave the beach every day.
I enjoyed my beach snuggles in the shade.
We had a great time on our bikes.
We did find one reptile!
We went to see Angel Oak, a five hundred year old tree!
After Angel Oak, we headed to Charleston for the day. It was very hot so we didn't spend as much time there as we had planned.
We did a horse carriage tour of Charleston. I swear we do this every single time we visit and learn something new each ride!
We took a nice walk around the island after we got back from Charleston.
We ran into a couple deer!
We watched a storm roll in from the beach.
The kids allowed me to dress them in matching clothes and take pictures on the beach!
We ran into more deer on the way home.
It was a great vacation!
