Harper's 1st Day of Kindergarten

Today is Harper's first day of kindergarten!  I had scheduled the morning off many months ago when I thought I would be walking Harper to her classroom.  Today is in no way what we had imagined it would look like.  Harper will be "attending" school at the Scheer's condo in Uptown.  We arranged a bedroom to be her classroom and Alex will be her facilitator/teacher.  It is going to be a learning experience for everyone involved!

Harper is now a student at Irwin Academic Center which is also located in Uptown.  We truly won the lottery on this school (literally).  It is a magnet school for learning immersion and academically gifted students (still a public school).  We went from being slotted to attend the 1450th out of 1458 elementary schools in North Carolina to one of the top twenty.  We are so very excited to have Harper be part of this amazing school.  Hopefully, she will actually get to physically attend school in the near future.

I hung decorations outside of Harper's door for her first morning surprise.

We continued the Schneider's German tradition of giving the kids a Schultüte on their first day of school.  We filled it with candy and toys.  I feel bad for Harper's teacher this morning :)

Last Day of Summer

We spent our last day of summer at the pool yesterday.  Harper did an amazing job swimming, diving and floating.  There was a huge change in her swimming abilities from the beginning to end of summer.

Chattooga Belle Farm Camping

Alex and I took the kids camping this past weekend in South Carolina.  I had been looking for unique campsites with fun things to do for kids.  Chattooga Belle Farm has amazing views of the mountains, a lake for swimming, animals for visiting, fruit for picking and a distillery for drinking.  It was an awesome place to camp!  It was just three hours from Charlotte.  The kids had a blast.  Hopefully we can go camping again soon!

The cute little dock was right off of our camp site.  There was also a frolf course on the property.

The event barn has a restaurant and a store full of goods from the farm.  They have honey, jams and peach bourbon slushies, just to name a few items.

We spent some time picking apples and peaches.  We plan to make juice later this week!

The views were stunning!

We had peach slushies for a treat.

The kids had a fun time swinging on the swings.  It was so nice to swing in the shade overlooking mountains and orchards.

The farm cows came over to the kids for a visit.

After swinging and visiting with the animals, we took a dip in the lake.

We were able to use our new coffee percolator.

Goodbye llamas!
