Yiasou!

We are getting back into the groove of school and after school activities.

Ethan lost another tooth this week.  He made a maze for the Tooth Fairy to find his tooth...  Luckily, she found it and was able to place the coins without knocking the entire thing over.

We met friends at Camp North End Friday night.

There was an art exhibit going on so we stopped by.

Alex and the kids made shirts.

No night at Camp North End is complete without ice cream.

Soccer games started Saturday.  I am so happy to be back in soccer season!  I so enjoy watching the kids play.  They make me very proud!

Ethan's team won their game.

Harper's team tied after losing their lead in the last minute.  Harper played the best I have ever seen her play in the first game of the season on a ninety degree day with one sub for her team.

We went to the Charlotte Greek Festival on Sunday.  The Yiasou (Greek work for hello, goodbye and cheers) Greek Festival has cultural exhibits, Greek cuisine and live entertainment.  Alex and I haven't been to this event since before Harper was born.  The kids have been into Greek chicken recently and devoured their lunch!

The kids put on adorable dances.

We tried the baklava sundaes and they were delicious!

Harper and I made another pumpkin pie as it really felt like fall today!

Apples to Apples

The kids had a great first week at school.  It is nice that the first weekend back is Labor Day Weekend with Monday off.  Alex and the kids went to a festival in Matthews with Emily, Frank and the kids Friday night.  I had to work most of the weekend, but we started making up for it as soon as the call was done!  I had read about an apple orchard in Hendersonville that I wanted to check out so we headed there Sunday afternoon.  It was great!  It did rain a bit, but it was fine!  On Monday, we headed over to Emily and Frank's house for a Labor Day lunch.  Janet and Bruce are in town so we were able to spend time with them.  After the lunch, we went back home to make apple pumpkin pie with our freshly picked apples.

Of course the kids waited until school was back in session to play with neighborhood friends.

Matthews Alive Festival

Jeter Mountain Farm

They had these nice shuttles from the parking lot up to the barn.

Our first stop was the coffee house.  I got a pumpkin spice latte and the kids got hot chocolate.  It was the same temperature in Hendersonville and in Charlotte, but seventy-four felt a lot colder in the mountains!

Next, we headed to the bakery.

We could see them making the apple cider donuts!

We sat on the porch to eat our snacks.

I also got a slice of apple pie!

Ethan still hasn't lost this loose tooth!

Then it was time for apple picking!

It is always hard to find apples that haven't already been munched on by bugs.

It started raining just as we were finishing up.

So we headed indoors to get ice cream.  The kids got chocolate and Alex and I had apple pie ice cream.

Our last stop was the indoor playground.  The kids had a blast!  It was a great way to work out all the sugar.

They also had a market.  I didn't go in as I would have bought too many things!

What a fun little trip a couple hours outside of Charlotte!

Happy Labor Day!

The kids were excited to bake their pie!
