Vidant Medical Center

I had my first residency interview this weekend.  It was at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.  I drove down Friday night to make a four day weekend out of it.  The interview started with a dinner Sunday night at one of the residents' houses and then the big interview on Monday.  It went really well!  The residents were all very nice.  And as an added bonus, it turns out Elisabeth from college is going into ob gyn too and just happened to be at the same interview!  It was a great experience over all!

On Saturday, Mommy, Lisa and I went to a pumpkin patch!

My albino pumpkin!

We had a very yummy dinner at Grandma's house on Saturday.

ECU was nice enough to cover my hotel Sunday night!

Linvilla Orchards

We had so much fun at Linvilla Orchards last year, that we decided to go back again!  This October has been very rainy and the leaves have not begun to change colors yet so we needed a little festive in our lives.

Our first stop, of course, was the hot apple cider donuts and apple cider slushie booth!

Then we hit up the jalapeno poppers and mozzarella stix station.

We like to eat.

Pumpkinland!

I got my candy apple and jug of apple cider to go home with!

The newly-engaged were in the area and we lured them in with promise of hot donuts!

Emily's Visit

Emily came to visit this week!  She had planned to stay just one night, but we talked her into staying a little longer :)  We had a great time and hopefully next time Frank can come too!

It turns out our favorite restaurant, Parc, is gluten free!  So of course we had to take Emily to eat some amazing French food!  I would eat there everyday if I could, but we would go broke in a week.

Emily's first time at Parc!!

While I was at Hahnemann, Emily and Alex went to multiple museums, the Philadelphia Library, different stores downtown, and to Kelly Drive for some biking.  They did more in a day than I do in a month.

Alex and Emily at the Rodin Museum!

On Saturday, we went to the zoo!!  This has been number one on my list of things to do and it was awesome!  Did you know the Philadelphia Zoo was America's first zoo?

So happy to be at the zoo!  They had 3D displays throughout the park, hence the 3D glasses.

We were blinded by the light.

These lemurs curled their tails together while they were napping.  So cute!!!

They had these tunnels throughout the park for the monkeys to leave their enclosures and explore.  It was so neat!  There was a similar tunnel for the big cats.

Pretty green snake :)

This tortoise was humongous!!  The picture does not do justice to his size.  He was also a pigger.

Snapper turtle trying to snap us.

It was pretty hot outside for the beginning of fall.  This gorilla was taking a nap on the air conditioner!

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas :)

Zoo kids

We got to walk through the bird house openly with the birds!  This guy was walking around searching for raspberries.

Pretty giraffe picture for mommy.

Look at his funny maneuver for bending over!

He was waiting for a small child to fall in.

When we were in Germany, we learned to call these guys ice bears.

Alpha Omega Alpha

Today I got an email that I had been elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society!  I am super excited because this will definitely help me with my residency applications.  Alex had some celebratory champagne waiting for me when I got home!

Moo loves to celebrate :)

Gone to Carolina

Lisa moved back to Chapel Hill last weekend so we decided to go check out her new place!  We had a great time, but I think I am getting too old to make these trips in one weekend :)

We found Lisa's car in the garage!

Lisa's living room

I love the bookshelf!

The kitchen

The bathroom with the great sink.

Mommy in the lobby

Out back!

We went down to Franklin Street to have lunch at Carolina Coffee Shop.

It is my most favorite restaurant in Chapel Hill!

Phillies 4Eva

Alex and I realized that we had not been to a Phillies game in forever, so we decided to sneak one in before the end of their season.  The weather was amazing, the food was awesome, and best of all, the Phils actually won!!

The view from our seats!

We waited in the longest line in history to get some Crab Fries from Chickie's and Pete's.  They were worth it :)

Of course the Phillies scored three runs while we were making our trip around the stadium for different snacks.

After three years, we finally have Phillies shirts!

Philadelphia Carriage Tour

It was super hot outside today, so instead of touring Philadelphia on foot, we decided to take a carriage ride.  I love being lead around historic Philly by a cute little horse!

We stopped at Pearl's Oyster Bar before our ride for some yummy fried oysters and lobster soup.  It was the first time since we moved up here that we had real sweet tea!!

After our ride!

This cute horse is all ready for the Phillies game!
