June Birthday

We went to St. Simons Island with the Scheers for Michele's birthday.  We stayed at a four bedroom villa just a short walk from the beach club and the ocean.  The kids swam their little hearts out, spending all day at the beach or pool and going back to the pool after dinner!  The food was great and we had a wonderful time celebrating the birthday girl!

All the swimming made the kids eat like they have never eaten before.  I think Ethan had two hot dogs, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and chicken nuggets for lunch this day!

   

   

    

   

     

There was a cute candy and ice cream shop that we visited more than a few times.

During the day, the slide was available for the big kids.  Harper went down the slide probably a hundred times.

   

   

   

We went out for dinner one night and were luckily the table closest to the grass so the kids could run around.

We walked to brunch on Sunday and it was beautiful!

June Bug

Alex bought the kids caterpillar sets to learn about their life cycle.  The caterpillars arrived in little jars where they then formed cocoons.  We transferred the cocoons to a butterfly house and awaited their arrival.  It was so fun to find butterflies in the enclosure when they emerged!  The kids let the butterflies go in the yard.

Juniper

We started this weekend with a date night for me and the kids.  Alex had a curling event Friday night, so I took the kids to Midnight Diner.  We had chocolate milk, pancakes and all the whipped cream.  It was fun!  We had a couple birthday parties on Saturday and then went kayaking on Sunday.

The first party on Saturday was for a kid in Ethan's class.  It was a backyard pool party and Harper was able to come too!  They had a blast!

   

   

   

   

The second party was for the daughter of one of Alex's friends.  The kids loved all the outdoor activities.

Ethan carried every single outdoor activity up to the top of the playground, his "castle".

   

We made waffles Sunday morning.

   

   

Alex's parents arrived back in Charlotte!

   

After breakfast, we went kayaking on the Catawba River.

   

It was a perfect day to be on the water!

   

   

We saw turtles, ducks, snakes, herons and osprey.  

   

       

     

   

We fished for a little bit too.

   

   

   

   

   

   

Despite seeing a couple snakes (on the other side of the river), we decided to go for a little swim.

   

   

   

   

   

   

   

   

     

It was another great weekend!
