Wok Walk

Today we went on a Wok Walk with Chef Joseph Poon in Chinatown Philadelphia.  We had a Tai Chi demonstration, a Chinese vegetable carving lesson, and a walking tour of the Chinatown community including stops at a fortune cookie factory, a Chinese bakery, an Asian grocery store, a Chinese cooking equipment warehouse, and a few other places.  After the tour, we went back to Chef Poon's restaurant and had a four course lunch!!  We had a great time and would definitely recommend it!

Alex with the biggest wok ever!!

Dorsal fin in the Asian Market that sells for $338 a pound!!!  Chef Poon said it is Asian culture to pay a lot for health in order to extend life.

At the Chinese Bakery we all got hot bubble tea and a warm sweet roll.  Chef Poon said these treats are like the coffee and cinnamon rolls American people get at McDonalds in the morning.  We got a special cake since we were newlyweds!!

The fortune cookie factory was sooo neat!!  We got to see how the fortune is put into the cookie!!  After the tour, we all got huge bags of fresh cookies!
