We had planned to spend a few days at Kiawah Island enjoying one last beach trip of the summer, but as per my usual bad beach luck, Hurricane Hermine had other plans. We decided to go camping in the mountains instead. We camped at Hot Springs along the French Broad River. This was Harper's first camping trip! Camping with a baby is definitely a dirty, dirty job, but we had a fun time. Harper liked sitting in her new baby camp chair, picking up every single one of the acorns on our site, and tripping on each and every tree root. The weather was perfect with a high of seventy-seven degrees. It actually felt like fall! We slept like babies with our awesome river background noise. It wasn't the beach, but it was a nice way to end my week off.
We were super excited about Harper's new little chair.
She had to try all the chairs first in order to decide that hers was, in fact, the best.
One of many collected acorns
We stopped in town for a bbq lunch and ice cream snack.
We had to work hard to keep little Miss away from the fire pit. She learned a new word: hot.
Luckily, she never touched it when there was an actual fire.
All ready to camp!
We had a great view.
We got a new tent! It is big enough for our crazy double stuffed queen mattress and for Harper's bed!
We told scary campfire stories and chewed on bug spray caps.
Good morning!
We had pumpkin doughnuts for breakfast to celebrate fall.
