Something Blue Carolina

Alex and I are the cover story of a wedding magazine!  Here is the website to see it online: http://issuu.com/scbiz/docs/2010_something_blue_issue_1

A lady at Mom's school had heard that Alex and I had a rustic wedding at the Fearrington Barn and wanted to hear our story :)

Birthday Kitten

Today was Moo's 4th birthday!!  In my procrastinating ways, I made miss Moo a birthday hat.  She hated it, of course, and I came home to an apartment full of pink and purple paper fluff :)

She did agree to let it sit in her box though :)

Quick NC Trip

Alex went back to North Carolina this past weekend to watch Amy run a marathon!  I had to stay in Philly to study for my physiology final... what's new?  Amy did excellent and finished with a VERY good time!!  Alex was able to hang out with family and friends and cook some very delicious meals with his mom :)  Alex came back to Philly with half a case of our favorite wine from his parents, 11 boxes of the best girl scout cookies from my parents, and Guatemala presents from Lisa!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Danielle made us an Irish dinner this St. Patrick's Day!  She made corned beef, potatoes, and cabbage and it was amazing :)  We had Hilary's chip dip for an appetizer and Kia's pie and our Bailey's creme brulee for dessert.  We ended this very Irish day by watching The Boondock Saints, of course.

Green St. Patrick's Day Beer

We didn't get to do this at the wedding!

Tinto

A few weeks ago, Alex and I got a special surprise in the mail from Christina and Connor: a gift card to a restaurant group that owns several restaurants downtown!  Christina said she and Connor used to love eating at a restaurant called Tinto when they lived in Philadelphia, so that is where we decided to go!  The food was amazing and we had a great time :)

Gracias Ellen!

So tonight Alex and I decided to have a special date night before another round of exams.  Thanks to Ellen, we got to shop at Whole Foods for a yummy dinner.  My chef made me pepper crusted fillet and asparagus accompanied with a cheese course.  And for dessert, bacon chocolate!!!!  It was amazing!  Thank you Ellen!

Wok Walk

Today we went on a Wok Walk with Chef Joseph Poon in Chinatown Philadelphia.  We had a Tai Chi demonstration, a Chinese vegetable carving lesson, and a walking tour of the Chinatown community including stops at a fortune cookie factory, a Chinese bakery, an Asian grocery store, a Chinese cooking equipment warehouse, and a few other places.  After the tour, we went back to Chef Poon's restaurant and had a four course lunch!!  We had a great time and would definitely recommend it!

Alex with the biggest wok ever!!

Dorsal fin in the Asian Market that sells for $338 a pound!!!  Chef Poon said it is Asian culture to pay a lot for health in order to extend life.

At the Chinese Bakery we all got hot bubble tea and a warm sweet roll.  Chef Poon said these treats are like the coffee and cinnamon rolls American people get at McDonalds in the morning.  We got a special cake since we were newlyweds!!

The fortune cookie factory was sooo neat!!  We got to see how the fortune is put into the cookie!!  After the tour, we all got huge bags of fresh cookies!

Pediatric Aids Benefit Concert

Last weekend, Alex went to Drexel's Pediatric Aids Benefit Concert. It is an event that has raised $300,000 to date to help finance the services of many life saving programs and the opportunity to attend summer camp for the children in the Pediatric Aids program at St. Christopher's Hospital. Also, the money raised provides for the families affected by illness with financial support for emergency funds needed for housing, transportation, and other expenses. I skipped out to spend a few additional hours studying for the biochem final :( Alex got to see awesome dances, eat somewhat good food, and saw the crazy performance by one of our professor's bands!

NC State Pasta

For dinner the other week we had NC State pasta salad! The noodles are Mr. Wolf's face!! Santa Claus got this for Alex and we just loved it!! Too bad Santa couldn't find a nice blue and white pasta salad...

Snow Dinner

Kia's mom is in town visiting for a few weeks and decided to make us all dinner after the big snow storm! It was so nice to take a break from studying to hang out with friends :)

Everyone except Kia!

One of the most amazing dinners ever served at Cloverly Park! The home cooked Persian food was just wonderful!

And an anti-oxidant rich dessert that would make Dr. Swaney proud!

Snowmageddon 2010

This past weekend we got close to 30 inches of snow and added 15 more inches to it with the storm on Wednesday!! It was a snowmageddon! Unfortunately, I had module exams all week and was not able to play with Alex much in the winter wonderland :( Alex did get out of work, though, for two days and we had the last three module exams moved to Friday because of the condition of the roads.

Midnight walk home from the library in the snow from the first storm.

Blizzard Day!! Alex and Kia started a fort!
