To the Woods We Go!

We decided to squeeze in a last minute camping trip with the fading summer weather (and before the hurricane).  We drove up to Asheville Friday afternoon and stayed with Bay and Brad.  We love their new house with its amazing views!  They took us to the New Belgium Brewery for dinner.  The weather was perfect, there was tons of space for Harper to run around, they had pumpkin beer on tap and the food was awesome.

Saturday, we headed west to the Great Smoky Mountains.  We drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway, stopping here and there for a photo until we got to Graveyard Fields.  We went on a small hike on the Graveyard Fields trails to see the beautiful Lower Falls.  The trees were just beginning to change which was gorgeous against the Carolina blue skies.  Harper hiked most of the trail herself!  After the hike, we headed to Sylva for a quick bite to eat then onto our campsite at Moonshine Creek Camp Grounds.

We ate at a cute riverside restaurant in Sylva.  Alex and Harper ate frog legs... I didn't even try them.

Tastes like chicken?

Moonshine Creek Campground

We loved exploring the campground.  The site was beautiful and right beside a rushing mountain stream.  It was nice listening to the water at night.

It takes a lot of work to pump up the double stuffed queen sized mattress.

Harper watched a little Peppa Pig.

We usually put Harper on one side of the tent in her own bed, but we forgot the crib!  She snuggled with us instead.

We made pimento cheese burgers for dinner.

Harper loved her glow sticks!

You cannot go camping without smores!

Harper's marshmallows kept catching on fire...
