We left for Disney World on Friday evening. We picked up Harper from school an hour early and headed to the airport. It's only an hour an a half flight from Charlotte to Orlando. Given that this was our one and only super special trip to Disney, we had a limo pick us up from the airport! When planning the trip, I couldn't decide between the Wilderness Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Lodge, so I decided to do a split stay to experience them both.
Waiting at the airport!
Our limousine driver met us at the bottom of the escalator and helped us find our bags.
We were a bit excited!
We had water in fancy glasses.
The driver turned on a Disney movie for the drive.
A special thing about entering Disney World is driving under the big Disney arch. The driver told us when it was coming and lowered the divider.
We made it to the Wilderness Lodge! The lodge was inspired by the National Park lodges, specifically Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone. The decoration was also influenced by Native American art. There is an eighty-two foot tall fireplace in the lobby that is a recreation of the strata of the Grand Canyon with fossilized remains of prehistoric plant and animal life. It represents two billion years of time it took for the rock layers to form. The lodge has a geyser outback that erupts every hour. Obviously, this was a great resort for us. We stayed "club level" which was a separate badge entrance area of the lodge. We had a wonderful group of cast members assigned to this area to help with anything we needed. The biggest perk of club level was the food and drinks available throughout the day.
A stream starts in the lobby, runs outside then into the pool!
I had arranged for a room surprise for the kids when we arrived. They each got a Halloween bag of Disney treats.
I had been told we would have parking lot views. I was floored when we walked in with a perfect view of the castle in Magic Kingdom!! A cast member gave us a tour of our club lounge and when we got back to the room, we were again surprised by a fireworks show from Magic Kingdom!
It was a truly amazing view!
After the fireworks, we unpacked and organized the room. We used a shoe organizer to keep our things visible and easy to grab on our way out.
Disney resorts only have bar soap so we brought our own Disney Halloween Mickey hand soap.
There are a lot of things to keep charged in Disney World! We had chargers for our four magic bands, the kid's stroller fans, Alex and my hand held fans, the portable charger and our phones. I brought two power strips for all the charging.
We had groceries delivered to the hotel the night we arrived. Food is expensive in Disney so we had planned to make the kid's lunches on days we didn't have a major lunch reservation. We ordered snacks, fruits, water bottles and my pumpkin spice creamer, of course.
