1st Week of Summer

The kids were super busy their first week of summer!  They went swimming every day this past week between Nanna and Grandad's pool to the lake to the pool in the mountains.  I had signed the kids up for swimming lessons this first week of summer to remember old skills and learn new ones.  Harper has been able to swim for a few years now, but has never learned any strokes other than freestyle.  Ethan has always loved the water, but I couldn't trust him in the deep end.  They both learned a lot and I can feel better about swim safety.  Ethan spent the entire time in the deep end at the pool on our camping trip.  He did great!

Lulu is so sweet to the kids.

Lulu let Harper dress her in headbands.

Ethan helped Alex make dinner.

Alex's friend owns a boat.  Alex and the kids were out on the lake all day swimming, tubing and fishing.

Alex took the kids to the library to pick books for the start of summer.  The library was having a Summer Reading kick-off party.

The kids visited Catherine at her horse camp.

Lulu was sad to see a packed bag.

We made it to Black Forest Family Camping Resort!  Harper's friend Amelia and her family have been coming here for years.  Every year, the group gets a little bigger.

All of the cabins are near each other.

The girls found snails.

Each night before bed, Harper would read to Ethan.  Ethan slept on the top bunk and Harper slept on the bottom.

Coffee

The kids found a lot of worms.

Some of our group on the hike!

The kids led the way.

We went out for lunch at a brewery after the hike.

We had an ice cream social Saturday afternoon.

Harper ditched us for her friends.

We had a scavenger hunt for the dads that ended at a piñata filled with lottery tickets, socks and snacks.

The girls won tug-of-war.

The kids almost beat the dads.

But the dads prevailed!

We all had dinner together Saturday night.

We did a presentation of kid's drawings of their dads.  The dads had to guess who the portrait was and who drew it.

Harper drew this!

Harper, Amelia and Ethan read books on our porch after s'mores Saturday night.

Ethan fell asleep!

Sunday morning pancake breakfast to say goodbye to everyone!  Happy Father's Day weekend!
