We had a very busy and very wonderful weekend. Alex was in Durham at a curling tournament and Gigi and Poppy came to spend the weekend with us.
Reading books!
The kids had a movie night at school on Friday. We brought dinner and set up our chairs.
Harps was off with her friends for most of it.
Saturday was full of soccer! We started with Ethan's game. He is touching the ball more and more!
He definitely pet this dog more than he touched the ball, however.
Harper had her best game yet! She scored her first goal on this team, had one or two goal assists and was a great defender. We were in awe at her skill!
After Harper's game, we went to Wise Acres Farm for pumpkins and pizza.
We said hi to the goats first.
Then picked our pumpkins.
The kids love the swings here.
We had delicious pizza.
We went on a wagon ride that was super cute. The kids counted ghosts hiding in the forest.
The kids got Halloween surprises from Gigi and Poppy!
The kids and I drove to Beech Mountain to go to Autumn at Oz. This is a theme park that originally opened in 1970. It ran for 10 years before closing secondary after a fire, vandalism and declining interest. It re-opened again in the 90s just a few weekends a year. We were lucky to get tickets, but they were on the last day at the last time slot. We loved it! We rode the ski lift up to the top of the mountain where the park sits.
There were beautiful views of the mountains throughout the park.
Dorothy's house!
The journey starts with a show at the barn, then Dorothy moves to in front of her house to sing. The park is a series of acts as Dorothy meets different characters. There is opportunity to meet the characters for pictures as well.
The Gale house!
Awful Miss Gulch!
You get to walk through the house until you enter a "tornado". Then when you come back out of the tornado, the house has been destroyed. It is all lopsided and messy!
Aunty Em
A tornado spun this house into the Land of Oz!
The Wicked Witch of the West was mad that Dorothy killed her sister!
We loved Oz!
We met Glenda the Good Witch.
Munchkins
Scarecrow
Tin Man
Cowardly Lion
These characters were scary and mean!
The Wicked Witch of the West and her flying monkey!
Follow the yellow brick road!
We made it to Emerald City!
It was such a fun adventure!
