I have been working on Harper's room this week and we are nearly finished. The board and batten took eight coats of pain! The gray on the walls always seemed light to me, but it kept creeping through!
This look would have been okay.
But I decided to add beading for a more feminine look.
I had to help a neighbor and he brought me this cute note!
Painting the beads was a pain.
On Monday, Harper had her Crossover Ceremony for Scouts. They earn their Arrow of Light award (the highest rank in Cub Scouting) and literally crossover a physical (and symbolic) bridge into Scouts BSA from Cub Scouts. Each kid said their favorite memory. Harper was the only one to have prepared a nicely written speech (on notecards too). It was very professional and sweet!
Dr. Marty was a great leader.
Amelia's sister pinned Harper.
Very proud!
After we got home from the ceremony, it was work, work, work! We had found out Monday morning that Ethan had a project due the previous week. Whoops! We quickly put it together. I also had a Career Day presentation the next day that I had not started. I wanted to make a pelvis in a box for the kids. You can't see the kidneys or adrenal glands because they are retroperitoneal, but I had them there as they come into play sometimes in our field. I spy the small intestines, colon and appendix.
I put my skin layer, fat layer, rectus muscles, uterus, ovaries and bladder out to dry.
This uterus is so cute!
Ethan and Alex hard at work!
Part of Ethan's project was to make a bottle doll representation of his person. We used Stephanie Wilson as this was who Harper had recently presented on and the information was fresh in our heads.
I set up my presentation like a surgery. The kids could put on gloves to touch the organs.
Career Day!
You had to lift the skin, fat, muscles and peritoneum to get to the abdominal cavity. I skipped the facial layer because it was getting too heavy!
The kids dressed up as the profession they want to be.
Lu still wanted to sleep in Harper's room despite the construction.
Harper didn't want to sleep in her room.
Harper had a field trip to Camp Thunderbird last week. She slept there two nights! Alex did not chaperone this trip. The teacher was sure to send plenty of pictures.
We sold Harper's old bed and nightstands. The bed had been her crib that transitioned to a toddler bed then a full bed.
The new bed arrived! I organized the desk drawer.
Lu already loves the chair.
And the bed!
Almost done! I just need to hang a couple wall sconces so she can read at night. We are also waiting on a beanbag to arrive.
Lu has been enjoying her outdoor time. She has been doing a good job of staying on her leash.
We took the kids to an alpaca farm on Sunday. We got to feed and pet the alpacas. They are the softest things!
Harper was the alpaca whisperer.
Quite possibly my last Easter bunny photo!
Alex and the kids went to a baseball field to play with friends Sunday afternoon.
It has been fun to watch Lu enjoy the new space too.
