Iceland Day 4

The kids loved these cinnamon buns and ate them for breakfast many mornings.

We went to Akureyri, the biggest city in the north.  The stoplights were all heart-shaped.  While we were waiting to hear what time our RV appointment was, we stopped at a cafe for coffee.

Lyst is a cafe in Akureyri I had wanted to go to, but didn't add to my list.  It is situated in a botanical garden.  With our extra time, we paid a visit.

We ran into this cute cat in the garden.

Our RV was a quick fix.  The only thing on Alex's to do list for the entire trip was to play disc golf in Akureyri.  There was a playground for the kids that they enjoyed while Alex golfed.

After disc golf, we went to another ice cream shop.

My favorite "secret" hot spring was the one outside of Akureyri.  It was a hot waterfall!  We did short hike up a hillside in our suits to swim in this hot spring.

You could also sit in the water lower down on the hill.

After the hot waterfall, we went to Godafoss.  We viewed it from both sides.

We went to this cute cafe for waffles and lattes after visiting the falls.

We went to see Grenjadarstadur turf museum after the falls.

We were able to go inside and learn about the different sections of the house.

We had reservations for a horse tour in Husavik that evening.  The tour was on a farm situated on a lava field.  Our tour guide was lovely.  All of us were able to ride our own horses.  It was amazing!

The kids did great!  The owner taught us how to tell the horses to speed up, slow down and turn.

We had dinner after the horse ride and headed to Geosea geothermal baths.

This was my favorite geothermal bath.  They had infinity pools with amazing views.
