First Day of 2nd Grade

Today is Harper's first day of 2nd grade!!  We are very excited about her teacher this year.  Harper picked out a new backpack and lunch box.  We gave Harper her Schultute this morning, packed with little treats.  Can't wait to hear how it goes!

The bus didn't arrive on time and after waiting for twenty minutes, our neighbor decided to drive the kids to school.

Last Weekend of Summer

It was our last weekend of summer before school starts!  We went to Carowinds Friday night and had a great time.  Ethan actually rode rides this time!  It was good Disney prep.  Saturday, we had to go to a bike store to get a part for Harper's bike.  We ended up getting Ethan his first big boy bike.  He did great!  We went out for ice cream afterwards.  Sunday, we went swimming at the pool and made cupcakes.  We are all ready for school!

Smoky Mountain Mangalitsa Farm Camping

We went camping this weekend just outside of Asheville.  I had found the site a year ago and have been waiting to go!  We camped on a Mangalitsa pig farm.  It was gorgeous with amazing views of the mountains.  Our site was right next to a river with small rapids.  We had brought our own floats for the river, but a family also loaned us their heavy duty floats so we could try the rapids.  We stayed two nights. The weather report had called for rain the entire weekend, but luckily, it only rained our last night for a couple hours after we had gone to bed.  It was a good end of summer trip!

Loving our spot!

There were donkeys and pigs on the farm.  The pigs had curly hair!

We explored the property our first morning.

The kids thoroughly enjoyed playing in the river.  Alex caught a fish!

We all did the rapids together and then Alex and Harper went a second time.

I had to go get more water and was able to see the piglets on my walk!

They ran over to say hello.
