Laugh for the Cure

Alex and I went to the Susan G. Komen Laugh for the Cure Event last night in uptown.  My practice sponsored our tickets.  The event is an annual fundraising silent auction for breast cancer research funds with an appetizer reception and comedy acts to follow.  The event was held at the McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square where Alex and I have been wanting to go for a long time!  We ate awesome food, laughed until we cried with the feature comedian, Greg Morton, and picked up a pretty sparkle ring for Harper girl.  Aunt Sarah was super kind to watch Harper so that we could have a night out.

Twenty-Four Weeks: Cantaloupe Baby

We are twenty-four weeks along today!  NB is developing a sleep - wake cycle and can even yawn now.  He is working on gaining weight, which obviously has been no problem given the amount of food I am eating :)  I have been so much hungrier this time around!

We are starting to put together the nursery.  We decided against our first nursery theme of leafy green after the sheets we had ordered weren't what we were expecting.  Now we are going with a nautical theme (this week anyway).

Harper loves all the boxes that have come with the baby's furniture.

It is starting to look like a nursery.

We haven't figured out where the furniture will go.

Busy Being Lazy

We had a nice weekend busy with lazy activities.  We spent over two hours Friday evening at NoDa Brewery with Kate and Sean sampling their Girl Scout Cookie beers.  They were as awesome as they sound!  The brewery has a fenced in artificial grass play area (initially built for adult yard games) that was full of kids.  Harper made a few friends and spent the entire time running around.  We lounged in our chairs enjoying the spring sun while watching Harper have the time of her life.

Saturday, we traveled out to Denver to celebrate Caden's first birthday party!  We were able to see Jennifer and Charlie, Ryan and his family, and Heidi and her husband in addition to Cari and Joe.  It was a fun reunion for a rainy day!

Sunday, we played around with different furniture arrangements in New Baby's room and hung the curtain rod.  I have yet to order any of the textiles for his room, but we are finally getting started!  We spent the afternoon watching basketball, of course.

Harper loved this space!

23 Weeks: Grapefruit Baby

Things have changed in neonatology since Harper was born so that now, a twenty-three week fetus is considered viable.  This week, New Baby is around eleven inches long and has probably reached a pound in size!  He is starting to make surfactant to help his lungs develop and is learning the sound of our voices.  He is VERY active and we could appreciate his movements a whole six to seven weeks before Harpers.  We are finally starting to make some decisions on his nursery so hopefully we can start putting that together soon!

Separate Ways

Alex and I both took our own trips this weekend.  Alex headed up to Pennsylvania to see an old friend and I went to Cary to spend time with my family.  Harper and I had fun and were able to see several of my aunts, Grandma, Sami and Tessa in addition to my family.  We planned Lisa's shower, spent Saturday at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, and had a nice breakfast out with Grandma Sunday morning.  We all had a wonderful weekend!

We explored different ecosystems.

We were very excited to find out that Saturday was Reptile and Amphibian Day at the museum.  Harper was able to greet and pet tons of different snakes and lizards.

She was very brave!

Hello Hercules!

This two week old tortoise is riding on the back of a tortoise whose size he will soon grow to be!

Harper liked the brontosaurus' long neck.

This giant sloth used to live in North Carolina!  I am glad it is gone.

The sloth was too sleepy to come down.

We loved the butterfly room!

You Can't Brunch With Us

We had a couple friends over for brunch this morning.  We had Grandma's breakfast bake, bagels, muffins, yogurt parfaits, eggs Benedict and a mimosa and bloody Mary bar.  Landon and Harper had a great time playing together while the adults caught up!

We forgot about daylight savings this morning so it was a mad dash to make sure everything was ready in time.  I had to quickly make the muffins without Harper and when she found out, my little muffin girl was very angry!

Yogurt with granola, honey and fruit!

We love a good breakfast cocktail bar.
