Thirty-Seven Weeks: Romaine Lettuce Baby

We are officially term today!  Thirty-seven week fetuses love to practice inhaling, exhaling, sucking, gripping and blinking.  They should be at least nineteen inches in length and six pounds in weight.  I am very happy because as of seven AM this morning, I am officially finished with my hospital calls until after maternity leave.  I am definitely ready for a break after spending the past four days IN A ROW on call and meeting more squishy faced babies than I wanted to.  This week is busy, busy, though, as we get ready for Lisa's wedding and our family reunion next week.  Hopefully NB can hang out on the inside until after our trip!

We are still waiting on the toy basket to arrive!  The shipment keeps getting pushed back.  It is espresso wicker and resembles the hamper.

Can't wait to put his pictures in the frames!

I love all the space to add more books!

NB's dresser is also almost finished.  We need to buy some newborn diapers to put in here.  We will keep diapers, wipes, diaper pail bags, Desitin cream and little washcloths in this drawer.  The washcloths came in handy with Harper during diaper changes to keep the changing pad clean and dry.

We have the extra mattress pad and NB's sleep sacs in the other top drawer.

I just love the Skubb Ikea drawer organizers!  We used them with Harper too.  We will use this drawer for pacifiers, socks, hats, onesies, little muslins, pack and play sheets and receiving blankets.

In this drawer we have crib sheets, blankets, the extra changing pad cover and bigger muslin blankets.  Apparently I like blue.

We are starting off with significantly less clothing than with Harper.  It is hard to find cute boy clothes!

Ethan's boppy pillow!

His bassinet is all ready to go!

We keep the extra sheets for the bassinet on the shelf under the crib skirt.

We have my diaper bag all set to go.  The car seat, seat protector, sun shade, car organizer and mirror are also ready to be put into the car, but we are waiting until after the beach trip.  We have the pack and play, the bouncy seat and our baby carriers down from the attic.  The bottles and bottle warmer have been washed and are ready even though we won't need them until I go back to work.  We only ordered Ethan one new infant towel.  He will be using Harper's old pink and gray baby towels.  We changed the guest room bathroom into a mermaid bathroom for Harper girl.  Her big girl towels should be arriving next week while we are at the beach!

The bibs are all ready in the kitchen drawer.

The bathroom is now stocked with two humidifiers, a basket of baby bath products and the infant bath sponge.  We did change the sponge from pink to blue!

New baby bath tub!

We updated the medicines and remedies in our baby medicine box.

We did get new fabric for the Bugaboo stroller.  We went with a chevron gray color and will switch out the pink from Harper.  Before we put the new gray gear on, we will change the stroller to directly attach to Ethan's infant car seat.  Around six months when he can no longer use the infant seat, we can put the chair back on the stroller with the gray fabric.  Instead of buying a new stroller for two, we got the scooter attachment for Harper.  She loves it!!  She can sit or stand on the attachment while we stroll the baby.

Thirty-Six Weeks: Papaya Baby

I can't believe we are only four weeks or so away from meeting the little one!  Everything has been going very well and there are no signs that NB will try to crash Lisa and Andrew's wedding.  I have only four and a half calls left before NB arrives and all of them fall within the next few days.  I am looking forward to being finished with such long hours.

Weekend Fun

We had a nice Father's Day Weekend.  We started our weekend by popping by the house of one of the current 4th year residents in our neighborhood who was throwing a graduation party.  It was nice to see my old colleagues and I can't believe the group below us is now graduating!  We only stayed a short bit, though, because we were headed to Camp North End for food trucks and live music.  Camp North End is an old industrial site full of factories that once produced Model T cars and army missiles that has been refashioned with string lights, tables and chairs, fire pits and murals and is a gathering place to listen to live music, eat food from local food trucks and to get to know your neighbors.  We are lucky in that we can walk to Camp North End, as it is right across the street from our neighborhood.  We ran into one of Harper's best friends from pre school and several of our neighbors.  We drove to Southern Pines on Saturday for Matty and Shilpa's annual pool party.  We had not been able to make it to the party in years!  It was fun and made us super excited for the upcoming wedding and reunion!

Just hanging out at Camp North End!

Relaxing at the pool!

Harper spent the entire day in the pool!  Such a little fishie!

Mini Maternity Session

A couple weeks ago, we had a mini maternity session to document this pregnancy.  Unfortunately, Harper was sick and had a fever for only the second time in her life.  She was very out of sorts that day.  Alex had to end up leaving the session to walk Harper to get a special chocolate drink and we didn't really get any pictures of the family.  The photos that we did end up with are lovely and we are looking forward to our newborn session as a family of four.  We just love Amanda McQuade Photography!

Thirty-Five Weeks: Pineapple Baby

We are thirty-five weeks today!  Fetuses at this gestational age have fully developed hearing and can recognize the voices of those frequently around them.  The uterus at thirty-five weeks has grown to one thousand times its original size!  It is definitely the most impressive organ, in my opinion.  We are almost ready with everything at home, but are hoping for another good five weeks of baby cook time.

A Day with Thomas the Train

With New Baby coming in the next month and a half, we wanted to spend some special time with Harper as a family of three.  We took Harper to Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock yesterday.  It was a perfect day trip and only took us an hour and a half to get there!  Tweetsie Railroad had an awesome Thomas the Train event and Harper was able to ride Thomas around the park.  She loved it!  We rode trains and carnival rides, fed animals, and had a yummy ice cream treat.  After the park, we drove to downtown Blowing Rock for dinner.  It was a lovely day!

 There goes Thomas!

Harper was very excited to see all the trains!

We rode a few rides in the park before our scheduled time to ride Thomas.

Harper had her first race car experience!

We were very excited to be on Thomas the Train!

They had a politically incorrect shoot out between the settlers and "Indians".  There were quite a few kids with mullets shooting at the Indians on the train...

A horse came out at the end!

Waiting on lunch!

We rode a ski lift after lunch to the upper park for more toddler rides.

We met Sir Topham Hatt!  I have no idea who these characters are.

These boats went pretty fast!

Harper loved feeding the animals.

This baby goat was so cute!

We stopped for an ice cream treat.

We rode one last little train through a mouse mine.
