I Like to Move It, Move It

Harper and I learned about simple machines this week.  It was a fun way to discuss force, motion and work.  We read a few books about force and work and made models of the different simple machines.  Our lessons this week certainly were not as glamorous as the ones from Paris week, but Harper had a fun time building machines to do her work!

We made an Archimedes' screw!  Harper was very surprised when the water went up the tubing as she turned the pipe!

We made a pulley system to lift Harper's dolls.

We made a water wheel.

We figured out how many clementines it takes to move a lemon up an inclined plane.

It took three!

We also made an elevator to lift more toys.

Harper and I designed a marble run to lower our marbles to the ground.

Girlie had fun decorating the board.

No Rain North End

The sun was finally out this weekend so we went to Camp North End to play.  It was still freezing cold, but it was nice to be outside.  The kids had a blast running around.

The kids refused to try the ramen I ordered for lunch so I ate it peacefully while they climbed and jumped.

Drive-Through Dinos

We went to the drive-through Jurassic Quest event near Charlotte yesterday.  Last time we went to see the dinosaurs, it was in a big building with dino rides, baby dinosaurs and bouncy houses.  It was definitely a good socially distanced event this year and pretty cool that we could be in the car the entire time.  The kids got boxes full of dino toys and we listened to an audio guide as we drove through the event.  It was fun!  Harper was the only one who got a little scared by the T Rex.  We learned a lot of cool facts too!

They loved being out of their car seats.

This guy was my favorite with his huge feet and tiny little arms.
