Grow Baby Grow

We spent a few minutes each day this week learning how to take care of our crops.  It was a lot of work!  Harper made sure to water the crops at least twice daily.  We had to defend our crops against hungry crows.  When our crops had finished growing, we harvested them and took them to our farmer's market to make a profit.

Back on the day Harper planted the seeds!

Growing, growing!

We had to figure out how to keep the crows away.

Harper came up with the idea of making a scarecrow.  She said she learned it from a tv show.

The crows were gone the next morning.  By Thursday, the crops had grown large enough to harvest.

We picked our root vegetables first.  It was neat that they grew underground.

A bounty of harvested crops!

Harper matched each fruit with its label by sounding out the words.

Ready for the market!

Harper was able to use her addition skills to add up our orders.
