Chasing Waterfalls

After getting a small taste of the mountains last weekend, we couldn't stop thinking about going back so we planned a last minute trip to Tennessee.  When I plan mountain trips, my two requirements are an amazing view and a hot tub.  After a few hours of scrolling through cabin rentals online, we had a winner.  We picked a house just outside of Pigeon Forge, pretty close to another house we have rented in the past.  Sevierville is about four hours from Charlotte and the drive is beautiful.  I am so very lucky to have half days on Fridays, which makes weekend trips all the more doable.

The house we rented had the most amazing view I have ever seen of the Smoky Mountains!  I could sit on that porch and enjoy the view for hours, that is, if I didn't have to chase the small ones around.  The kids had a great time and I am so glad they go along with all my last minute adventures.

Ethan stayed in the bear room in his pack and play.

The lower level of the house had the kids rooms and a game room.  It also had the hot tub on the porch.

Harper stayed in the moose room.  It had the most comfortable bed!

The living room with huge windows and a breathtaking view of the mountains is the first thing you see when you walk into the house.

I love getting to sleep in king beds on vacation!

We spent a lot of time on the porch.

The kitchen was awesome!  We made all of our meals here as we didn't want to leave.

This is the first picture Harper has taken of us!

I took a million pictures of the view.

I enjoyed my coffee on the porch both mornings.

We hiked Laurel Falls Trail on Saturday.  The trail was only a few miles from the cabin we rented.  Laurel Falls is the most popular trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and actually had to be paved due to erosion from all the foot traffic.

Harper hiked all 2.6 miles by herself!  She also stopped and asked to pose for pictures every hundred yards.

This was our first bear sighting!  It was very close to us!

Our last bear sighting was a mamma bear and her two cubs.

We spent post-dinner nights in the hot tub.

Somebody woke up early and had coffee with me on Sunday.

We had planned to hike Grotto Falls on Sunday, but the trail was still closed due to the virus.  We decided to drive through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park as a long way home instead.

We stopped a few times to take pictures.

We did make a pitstop for Soco Falls.  It was a super quick hike off the highway down to the falls.

It was so steep, part of the trail was lined with ropes.

The falls were beautiful!
