Mexico Day 4 - Cenote

We ate breakfast at Mercado de la Merced Tuesday morning before our cenote tour.  I was very excited to eat here.  It is beautifully decorated and has tons of food options.  This was Ethan's favorite for breakfast too.  For our cenote tour, we met our guide at the resort and rode a shuttle into the jungle to see different cenotes.  Cenotes are sinkholes that exist in nature that expose groundwater.  You can swim in them and they are the source of drink water for the people in the area.

This cenote tour required quite a bit of athletic ability!  Good thing we have tough kids!  The tour brought along a photographer to take photos.

At the first cenote, we zip lined into the water.  The water was freezing!

We did the zip lines a few times.  Harper and I rode upside down.

We kayaked through the next cenote.  I didn't have my own phone with me or I would have taken a hundred pictures.  It was so pretty!

We snorkeled around this cenote.  This was the only picture we have from this one.  It was also beautiful.  It connected to the first cenote by a series of underground rivers.

At the next cenote, we slid into the water on a slide then swam to a zip line, rode the zip line midway across the water then let go into the water, then swam the length of the cenote and climbed out.  At the end of the cenote, we jumped off a cliff then paddled back to the start on floats.

We rappelled into the last cenote.

We saw a lot of bats here.

We got back to the resort, took showers and went out to explore.

There are miles of beautiful trails.

We stopped for snacks at Chibali.

I had a delicious cappuccino and the best ice cream I have ever tasted.

We went to see the beach.
