We woke up early on Thursday to catch our tour bus to Chichen Itza. Our tour guide was amazing and spent most of the way to Chichen Itza educating us about the history of the site and the Mayan people.
There were a couple of cute kittens outside of our room when we woke up.
Chichen Itza
We spent the first forty-five minutes walking around with our guide while he pointed things out. We had the next forty-five minutes to explore on our own.
It is predicted that the ball game played on this field would take about eight hours to finish.
When you clap, there is a cool echo off the pyramid.
We walked all around the site.
After Chichen Itza, we went to another cenote. We were allowed to swim in it, but we were actually kind of tired of being cold and wet. I do wish we had swam in it! It was probably my favorite cenote!
The land containing this cenote is private and belonged to a family who made renditions of Mayan houses. We explored around.
We watched this lady make fresh tortillas. They were delicious!
The kids had seconds and thirds.
We ground fresh spices to make delicious flavors for cooking.
The kids planted corn!
Our last stop was in the city of Valladolid. We had lunch here and were able to walk around.
We had dinner at Las Playas. There are many restaurants at Xcaret, but we definitely had our favorites!
