Paris Day 1

Taking the kids to Paris has been a dream of Alex and mine for years.  We were excited to show the kids why we fell in love with French culture, food and specifically for Alex, the language.  I have been planning this trip for months and am pleased to say it was a great success!  We flew from Charlotte to JFK then on to Paris overnight on July 3rd.  It was a great way to spend our 16th wedding anniversary!  The kids were too excited about all the movies they could watch on the plane to sleep very much on the way there.  We arrived, took a taxi to a place near our Airbnb to store our luggage, then headed out to explore!

The kids needed an ice cream snack before we could do anything else.  Two days before we arrived in Paris, it had been 100 degrees.  The first five days we were there, it didn't get above 75.  We were actually a bit chilly!

We walked six to ten miles a day while we were on vacation and still managed to use the Metro/RER over twenty-five different times.  The kids quickly became proficient with the Metro system.

Harper and Ethan's first look at the Eiffel Tower!

We did a Seine River cruise to get the lay of the land.  Even though it was a little chilly, the sun was shining and the weather was perfect.  This was actually my first full day outside this summer so I got quite the sun burn!

We all got a little sleepy during the cruise.

We had lunch under a bridge along the Seine to get out of the sun.

We walked around the Eiffel Tower.

We had tickets to ride the lift to the Eiffel Tower Summit.  It was pretty neat!  Getting tickets for things in Paris felt a bit like getting Disney World tickets.  For the Eiffel Tower Summit tickets, I had to log on sixty days in advance of our desired visit date at midnight Paris time and had about two minutes to get tickets before they were sold out.

I had to use the restroom at the top of the Eiffel Tower!

We had treats at a cafe on the Eiffel.

I had a cappuccino and macaron and the kids had macarons and Nutella waffles.

The waffles were shaped like the Eiffel Tower!

The floors here were glass to see the people below.

We hung out under the tower in the shade for a bit after we got back down.

We set up our picnic blanket with a great view of the tower.

The kids spent an hour chasing pigeons while Alex and I had a little rest.

After resting on the Champ de Mars, we headed to the Marais to check into our Airbnb.  We absolutely loved our place.  It was in a perfect location, was decorated beautifully and was quite large for a place in Paris.  We had a refrigerator and stove to cook at home.

I loved our patio.

Our room!

The kids room!

I loved the ceiling height.

Harper had ramen noodles for dinner.

This was the view from the kid's room.

Bonne nuit!
