Paris Day 2

Alex went to a place just down the street from our Airbnb to grab the kids croissants and pain au chocolat for breakfast Saturday morning.  We were frequent customers there.  We had a full day planned at Versailles!  We rode the RER out to Versailles.

The kids loved riding the elevator up to and down from our flat even though it was only on the third floor.

We passed beautiful buildings and cafes on the way to our RER station.

Our first stop at Versailles was the Laduree shop for macarons!

The kids enjoyed the audio guide for Versailles.

The Hall of Mirrors was packed!

Harper has studied Marie Antoinette and was excited to see her room.

We had learned a lot of history about Versailles prior to coming, but it was still super impressive to see the opulent chateau and lavish decorations and gardens.

Kids will be cranky no matter the city.

We stopped at Angelina's for lunch.  The kids had the famous hot chocolate.

We stopped for fresh squeezed orange juice.

We rented a row boat along the Grand Canal.

We walked over to the Trianons and the Queen's Hamlet to explore.

The kids fed bunnies yummy leaves.

When we got back to the gardens, we had a baguette and cheese snack with macarons.

We had tickets to a Royal Serenade in the Hall of Mirrors Saturday evening.  This event takes place after the chateau and gardens have closed for the day.  It started with a skit out front of Versailles.

We then walked to the chapel (which is closed to visitors during the day) for the second act.

There was singing and acting here.

Then we headed back to the Hall of Mirrors for live music and dancing.  It was great to see it without hundreds of people.

It was neat to see the dancing in baroque costumes.

One last look at Marie Antoinette's room!

After the Royal Serenade, we went into the town of Versailles for pizza dinner prior to our last tickets of the day.

My last tickets in Versailles were to the Musical Fountains and Gardens Show with Fireworks!

The fireworks at Versailles were amazing.  We had tickets for seats along the garden.
