Iceland Day 3

The kids loved sleeping in their bed.  There were nets we put up on either side to make sure they didn't fall out.

After breakfast, the kids played on the campsite jumping bubble.  They were obsessed with these things.

Then we headed a couple miles down the road to see Kirkjufell.

After visiting the mountain and falls, we drove over to Berserkjahraun lava field.

The lava field was so very unique.

We stopped at Erpsstadir Dairy Farm for ice cream.

Ethan had rhubarb ice cream!

There was another jumping bubble at the farm.

We were able to meet the cows who made our ice cream.

We drove pretty far out of the way to stop at Gudrunarlaug hot spring.  It wasn't super hot, but the views were great and the cute little changing hut was picturesque.

We stopped to see Kolugljufur waterfall canyon.

Next, we headed to Glaumbaer turf house museum.  The museum was closed, as expected, but we were still able to walk around outside.  I just loved the turf houses.

My favorite campsite was the one we stayed at in Varmahlid.  Many locals were also camping there.  The kids enjoyed the jumping bubble and made friends with Icelandic kids.  Harper shared a freeze pop with her new friend.

Our water pump system stopped working here, however.  Alex spoke to the RV helpline and set up an appointment with a shop in the next town for the following day.  Luckily, the campsite had nice showers and sinks for washing dishes.
