Iceland Day 9

We got to our campground after midnight when the fireworks were finished.  It was a great campsite situated right at the start of our first morning hike.

Our morning coffee!  I couldn't find creamer in the grocery stores, only oat milk with a picture of coffee on it.

Our first hike was Svartifoss waterfall.  We passed another beautiful waterfall on the way to Svartifoss.

Svartifoss in the distance!

We made it!

Our next stop was Fjadrargljufur Canyon.

It had a waterfall at the very back.

After the canyon, we drove to Vik.  Harper and I stretched our legs on the hill above the famous red-roofed church.

We restocked on groceries here.

We pulled into the parking lot at Reynisfjara Beach, but it was full so we moved on to the overflow lot.  Who did we park next to, but my coresidents!  They were 4th years when I was an intern.  I knew one of them was coming to Iceland in the upcoming weeks, but I had no idea they were there.  What a small world to run into them!  It was the second day of their week long trip and they were traveling in the opposite direction.

I love these columns!

The kids played here for a while.

Where is Alex?

We stayed at a campground in Vik.
